The EPSON International Pano Awards 2012

Professional and amateur photographers around the world are invited to enter The EPSON
International Pano Awards to compete for over $25,000 in cash and prizes. Earlybird entries are open from December 2011 until Friday 20th of April 2012.

The third Epson International Pano Awards is dedicated to the art of panoramic photography. Advances in digital photography and software such as PTGui and Adobe Photoshop has resulted in an explosion in image stitching, especially in the panoramic format. Panoramic film photography also remains alive and well.

The Epson International Pano Awards showcases the work of panoramic photographers worldwide and is the largest and most important competition for panoramic photography.

The 2011 competition saw 3,586 images submitted from 985 photographers in 62 countries.
The 2012 competition is now open for all professional and amateur photographers with an increased combined prize pool of more than US $25,000 in cash and prizes!

Prizes include an Epson Stylus Pro 7900 printer, an Epson Stylus Pro 4900 printer, an Epson EB-1775 Ultra-Slim Projector and US$5000 cash.

2011 saw the successful introduction of a new VR/360 category for ‘immersive’ panoramic photography.

The judging panel includes some of the world's top panoramic photographers and industry professionals, including members of the IAPP and IVRPA.

PACKING / PICKING WORK UP FROM GALLERY

All students are asked to attend the Glen Eira Gallery next Sunday November 20th at 4.15pm where... 1. All work will be taken off the walls. 2. All work framed in the black college frames will be prepared for transportation back to pic, ( by " the trucking crew " ) where they will be stored in the "White Room " The work can be picked up from pic prior to, or on " Presentation Night " Wednesday 30th November 6pm. 3. Work which is in custom frames eg (frames owned by the student ) or " pinned work " will be claimed and collected by the individual student concerned then taken home. 4. If it is not possible to collect your custom framed or pinned work, then you will need to organise with a fellow student to collect your work for you. Remember it is an " All care but no responsibility " arrangement. The process of dismantling and packing up the exhibition can happen very smoothly as long as we have you there to assist. The Gallery security staff expects us to be out of there about 5.30 ish.

More than 3.4 billion photos have been uploaded to the platform in the first 100 days.

We’re really excited about this, and think great art deserves great exposure. So we’re teaming up with Saatchi Gallery, London for the Google Photography Prize, a chance for students around the world to showcase their photos on Google+ and have their work exhibited at a major art institution.

The contest is open to university students around the world (some exceptions apply, see google.com/photographyprize for more details). From far-away places to up-close faces, there are 10 different categories to spark your imagination. And there are some great prizes to be won: 10 finalists chosen by a jury of renowned photographers will show their work at Saatchi Gallery, London for two months in 2012 alongside Out of Focus, a major photography exhibition, and win a trip to London to attend the exhibition opening event with a friend. Australian World Music Expo needs photographers

I have been photographing AWME (see below) for the past 3 years. AWME has grown since it's inception in 2009 and the program has grown to take in more artists. I will be shooting as many acts as I can but I can't get to all of them. I am wondering if say 6-8 students would be up to photographing some of theses acts? Unfortunately the budget isn't huge. So I am not sure how much I can get but there will be some remuneration. There will be the opportunity for the students to make some photo sales . There will also be quite a large overseas press contingent attending and I have had some of my images published in the past so there may possibilities here as well. I need the students to be reliable and be able to shoot in low light. I don't mean crank the camera up 6400 ASA and go for it. Flash use in some situations is permissible. Photographers required

I will be requiring ongoing fashion photographers and models. I'm interested in working with students who have an interest in fashion and/or portraiture. The feel for these shoots will be more real life- think Sartorialist, Frankie, Self Service vs. heavily made up bikini girls. There will a wide range of sizes 6-14, I'm happy to use friends or 'friends of friends', the more diverse the better. We all know when someone is photogenic and interesting through the lens of a camera but not necessarily a fashion model, these are the girls I'm interested in working with. Ideally I'd prefer to have a final cast with the photographer, the more involved you are the better! If you like to work with a particular team, I"m open to suggestions. This will be creative, diverse, and give you experience while maintaining the focus of selling a product.

Each item photographed will be a one-off therefore, and the rotation of models will be quick and high volume per day. I'm happy to shoot either location or studio, but ideally I'd like to stay away from the standard catalog looking product shots that are online, and give this more of a personality. I will also feature you through the website and social media if you're interested. Renumeration will be discussed once we establish this is suitable for you and we're clear we can get the final result.

To all 1st year students, the mount board has now arrived but due to it arriving late, we have decided to reduce your stress levels and move the First Year final folio Assessment back the week commencing Wednesday the 2nd of November to Friday the 4th of November. The entrance is through a garage door on A'Beckett street. The shoot will start a 10am and finish at 12pm sharp, which is when their lunch rush starts. Bulk Loading Winders Mystery

If you find any of the bulk loader winders anywhere around please please please bring them to the store.

Yesterday we had 4 left and now we only have 2 thanks to a couple of people who didn't return them. This means we have 2 winders left in the entire school until a delivery of new ones arrives around the 20th Sep. These have been on back order for a year and a half.

If these remaining two mysteriously disappear, then no one in the school will be able to roll on black and white film until they arrive. These last remaining 2 winders are as valuable as gold now and can only be borrowed from the office.

So if you find any in your pockets, pencil cases, bags or shoes please bring them in.

Nutrition Australia is a not-for-profit, charity organisation that aims to ‘inspire healthy eating’ through a range of programs, publications and seminars. Nutrition Australia is seeking a photographer with experience and an interest in food photography and styling.

Nutrition Australia is currently working on a project to provide Supported Residential Services with a manual containing healthy food guidelines, nutrition advice and a recipe section with photographs. Supported Residential Services are facilities that provide accommodation and low-level personal care to people that can no longer live independently.

We are looking for someone who is an emerging or an established photographer who has food photography experience. Food styling experience would be an advantage. The role involves one full day photographing a number of meals (10-15) in Melbourne CBD, and then editing the photographs off-site. The final images would be required within four weeks.

The candidate will need to have their own equipment, and Nutrition Australia will require the copyright of the photographs.

The candidate will need to be available on a Monday, Thursday of Friday in late August.

First thing on Friday morning when you come in grab a number from the office. At 12pm (no earlier) we'll start to issue equipment starting at number 1. Digital cameras can be booked but you must be open to sharing the camera over the holidays and leave your contact number. Make sure you write down anyone else's number who'll be using the camera that you have booked so that you can get in touch with them. No equipment will be issued on the Thursday so if you can't make it in on Friday then unfortunately you won't be able to have equipment.

When writing the size of your work, either place the size (in cm) of the image if you are selling it as is without the frame, or place the size (in cm) of the frame if you are selling the image as a whole with the frame.

Final works must be submitted to the college on Tuesday the 7th of June! on the back of each of your works you must have one of the labels attached stating;

This Week 1st year Work in Progress

This week we will be having Work in Progress for all 1st year students on Thursday the 2nd of June and Friday the 3rd of June.

Groups 1 and 4 will be in the white room for Thursday and Friday.

Groups 2 and 3 will be in Studio 1 for Thursday and Friday.

Work in progress will commence at 9.30 sharp on both of the days and will finish at about 3.30pm, allowing an hour for lunch at about 12.30pm.

You are required to present a minimum of 5 images:

1) Hard copy image 1 minimum

This can either be a Black and white analogue print, or a Digital print. The prints are to printed here at PIC. You may choose more then 1 printed image depending on time constraints.

2)Projected Images.

You can also show your images projected via the data projector from your USB memory sticks.

You can show a combination of printed and projected if you choose, but you must show at least 1 printed image that contributes to your 5 photoimages.

You are required to attend both days and class rolls will be maintained of monitor your attendance.

Leave Southern Cross Station at 9.15 am Arrive Bendigo Station at 11.13am. It takes approx. 12minutes walk to the Bendigo Gallery from the station. Bring umbrella if weather forecast predicts rain?

Return Train Leaves Bendigo Station at 14: 26 (2.26pm) arrives Southern Cross station at 16:26 (4.26pm )

Some staff will be at Southern Cross Station and will also be traveling by train. Each student will need to purchase their own tickets So make an allowance (enough time ) so you don't miss the train. I am sure you can buy V/Line tickets at major rail stations eg. such as Caulfield.

If you go on line V/Line has a list of metropolitan stations (maybe close to you) You can purchase you Bendigo tickets. Otherwise they can be purchased at Southern Cross Station.

Students

Student Concession cards may be issued to full-time students pursuing a normal course of study at a primary or secondary school up to Year 12 in Victoria.

Students attending a TAFE college and studying a full-time VCE or Year 11 or 12 are eligible to obtain a Secondary Student Concession Card.

Tertiary students are also entitled to concession fares, if they are eligible for a Victorian Public Transport Concession Card.

Note: a school-issued identification card does not entitle a student to purchase concession fares.

If anyone is interested in getting published in the Leader newspaper contact me at my work email address. If you don't have it it can be acquired through the office. The job involves taking photos at a baseball game, it would take about an hour and involve taking photos of an award ceremony and a couple of shots of the game. Some of which may be published alongside a article on the baseball club running this coming week. There is talk of possible payment from leader but nothing concrete yet. So no promises.

The game tales place this Saturday 14th May in St.Kilda and you would need to be there by 2:30pm at the latest.

It is a great opportunity to get your work published and gain some great industry experience.
